The PVG’s College of Science & Commerce was established in the year 2001. It is Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and Recognized by Govt. of Maharashtra in 2001. Initially the permission was granted only for B. Sc. Computer Science Course. Observing the excellence of the college within a short period of time, the University granted the permission to the college to start M.Sc. (Computer Science) course in the year 2005 – 06.

The parent institute Pune Vidyarthi Griha, formerly known, as Pune Anath Vidyarthi Griha is a well-known charitable institution of Maharashtra, established in 1909, by a group of dedicated and visionary educationists. Last year it has celebrated its centenary too.
The primary mission of the Institute is to provide progressive and value added education facilities for the deserving, poor students of the society. Today, the institution has grown into a big banyan tree with its branches at Pune, Mumbai, and Nashik under its umbrella.
The Institute conducts a wide spectrum of education programs from Pre-primary to Higher education, in professional fields like Engineering Technology, Management, Computer Science, Commerce & Science College etc.
PVG’s College of Science & Commerce has independent Placement Cell for PG students i.e. MCA and MSc students. The Placement Cell not only coordinates the Placement Activity in the campus for the students but also organizes guideline lectures / activities / workshops like Career Guidance, Resume Writing, Mock Interviews, Metamorphosis, and Personality Development Program. It also encourages the students and provides facilities to take up Industrial Assignments or Projects or Live Projects. We also invite Technical and HR professionals & industrialists to guide students regarding need of the industries.
College has independent Placement Cell active for T.Y.B.Sc students since the academic year 2005-2006 through which various activities are conducted related to Placement . Through this cell, we approach various companies who would be interested in recruiting our students. We also undertake activities like informal training for facing interviews as well as taking up Aptitude / English tests.
At the beginning of the academic year, T.Y.BSc students are categorized as per their percentage obtained in previous years and Field choice as well as criteria put fourth by different companies.
